Wendi got bitten by the barbershopping bug early on, as her dad sang in choruses and quartets in Southern Maine. She joined the Arundel Yankeebelles Chorus at age 13 with her mom and sister. Wendi had such an ear for music that she also coached her mom's quartet at that time. She went on to get her degree in Music Education at the University of Maine at Orono, then taught voice at a private school and directed a community chorus in Bangor.
She came back to Sweet Adelines when a friend asked her to do some vocal coaching and in 1998 became Co-Director of Heart of Maine Chapter in Bangor. With a career change for her husband and a move back to Southern Maine in 2000, Wendi jumped at the opportunity to join Royal River.
With her musical background and the Sweet Adeline Director Certification credentials she quickly earned, it wasn't long before she was named the chorus' Assistant Director. With her combination of excellent teaching skills, abundant musical talent and an always optimistic attitude, Wendi is credited with helping the chorus prepare for and achieve successful results at three international contests, a Harmony Classic and several regional level competitions.
And at the 2011 Atlantic Region One Contest, Wendi became a MASTER director by scoring at least 600 points with her chorus at a competition. We are so proud of Wendi!
